This Privacy Policy explains how Lancet Classes (“we”, “our”, “us”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our website https://lctms.in/ and the Lancet Classes Android application

By using the website or the Android app, you agree to this policy.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to:

  • Students who log in to the Student Portal
  • Students who use the Lancet Classes Android app (Student Portal mode or WebView)
  • Parents or guardians who submit a student’s self-registration request
  • Visitors who use public pages on our website

Student accounts are created by the institute, or through Self Student Registration, which is reviewed and approved by an administrator. Students then sign in with their registration number or email and a password.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account and identity: full name, student ID / registration number, email address, phone number, class/grade, date of birth, gender, address, profile photo
  • Parent / guardian details: parent name, phone number, and email (during self-registration)
  • Login credentials: registration number or email, and password
  • Academic information: attendance, fees, homework, notes, exam/quiz attempts, results, notices, and related class records
  • Support messages: information you send through Contact Us, Help & Support, or similar forms

2.2 Information collected automatically by the Android app

  • Device or other IDs: Android ID used to identify the installed app on a device
  • Device information: device model, Android version, app version name and version code
  • Install and usage records: when the app was first opened and last used, and whether a student account is linked to that device
  • Push notification ID: OneSignal subscription ID / push token, so we can send class and account notifications
  • App analytics: Firebase Analytics may collect app activity, device identifiers, and approximate location derived from IP address

2.3 Payment information

If you pay fees in the app or on the website, we collect the fee amount, fee type, order ID, payment status, and payment gateway used (Cashfree or Razorpay). Card, UPI, and bank details are entered on the payment provider’s checkout and are processed by that provider. We do not store your full card number.

2.4 Information from camera, microphone, and files

The Android app may request:

  • Camera and microphone for live classes, file upload, or website features opened inside the app
  • Storage / files to download notes, PDFs, or an app update
  • Notifications to show class alerts and important messages

These permissions are used only for the feature you are using. We do not use the camera or microphone in the background for advertising.

3. How we use this information

  • To create, verify, and manage student accounts
  • To let students log in, view classes, fees, attendance, notes, exams, and notices
  • To process fee payments and keep payment records
  • To send important notifications (class updates, notices, payment status, app updates)
  • To register the app installation, check for mandatory updates, and support the device
  • To improve app performance and understand how the app is used (analytics)
  • To prevent unauthorised access and keep the service secure

4. How we share information

We do not sell student personal information. We share information only as needed to run the service:

  • Our servers at Lancet Classes / lctms.in, to store student records and operate the app
  • OneSignal, to send push notifications
  • Google Firebase Analytics and Google Play services, for app analytics, crash/performance data, and app updates
  • Cashfree and/or Razorpay, to process online fee payments when those gateways are enabled by the institute
  • Institute staff / administrators, who manage admissions, fees, classes, and approvals

These providers process data according to their own privacy policies, in addition to this one.

5. Data storage, security, and retention

Data is sent to our servers over the internet. Production traffic uses HTTPS. Login details are stored in encrypted/hashed form where applicable. Device ID and student session information may also be stored on the phone so you stay logged in.

We keep student and payment records for as long as the student is enrolled and as required for institute, fee, and legal records. App install records are kept to support updates and device support.

6. Children’s information

This app is used by students of Lancet Classes, including minors studying at the institute. We collect student information only to provide education, fees, and related institute services. We do not use children’s data for advertising. A parent or guardian should complete or approve self-registration for a minor.

7. Your choices and data deletion

You may:

  • Update phone number and address from the Profile section in the app (where enabled)
  • Change your password from the app
  • Turn off notifications in device settings
  • Request access, correction, or deletion of your account data by contacting the institute

To request deletion of a student account or Android app data (including device ID and notification ID), email us using the contact details below. We may retain some records if required for fees, exams, or legal purposes.

8. Third-party services used by the Android app

  • OneSignal – push notifications
  • Google Firebase Analytics – app analytics
  • Google Play – app distribution and in-app update checks
  • Cashfree Payments – fee checkout (when enabled)
  • Razorpay – fee checkout (when enabled)

9. Account creation and login

The Android app allows Self Student Registration using name, email, phone, and related details. The student does not set a password during that request. An administrator reviews the request and activates the account. After approval, students sign in with username (registration number or email) and password. The app does not use Google, Facebook, Apple, or other OAuth login.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the website or Android app changes. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.
